Why Is Hypnotherapy So Effective?

It's been a really interesting path leading me to learning Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT). During the pandemic, I was looking to learn a new modality because I wasn't able to give massages during that time. What I was looking for was simple: Something where I could work with people and help inspire them (my goal in life); something that was effective and efficient; and something that would help my clients in a really significant way.

After having looked at so many different modalities, I was struck by RTT. Marisa Peer, the founder of the program, has been a hypnotherapist for about 30 years and during that time she's honed in on what works and what doesn't work. The system she developed allows many people to get the change or relief they need in just 2-3 sessions most of the time. But the question for today is WHY is hypnotherapy, particularly RTT, so effective?

There are three primary reasons.

#1: During hypnosis, you're suggestible.

Hypnosis, first of all, is a completely natural state that all of us -- including you! -- go through every single day. If you fall asleep at night, you go through the alpha and theta brainwave states both on your way to sleep and when you're waking back up. If you daydream, you're in hypnosis. If you ever drive somewhere on "autopilot", you're in hypnosis.

I hear people say all the time "I can't be hypnotized". That's just plain malarkey! Everyone can be hypnotized and it's a dang good thing, too. We've all heard about the benefits of meditation, which is about voluntarily getting yourself into the alpha or theta brain states. Hypnosis is not just natural and common, it's actually good for you!

But what makes hypnotherapy so interesting is that we're doing the therapy work while you're in a hypnotized state. When you're hypnotized, you're highly suggestible, meaning that you're open to suggestions. It's sort of like your conscious mind if turned off (or at the very least, turned way down in the background). That conscious mind is responsible for a lot of the "no" responses we have in our daily life.

Suggestibility is a wonderful element of hypnosis because it allows us as therapists, and you as the client, to bypass the trappings of the conscious mind. When you will willingly accept suggestions, we can get to the heart of the matter in such an easy, direct way. There's little fight. Any masks that you might normally wear during waking hours or resistance that you have falls away when you're suggestible.

I should add, this doesn't mean that you don't have a say in what happens. While in hypnosis, you still can decide to say things or not say things. We can't make you do anything that's against your moral or ethical code. But we can get to the heart of an issue and really address underlaying problems in a very different way from traditional therapies.

#2: We are accessing the subconscious mind directly

What so many of us don't realize is how much the subconscious mind rules our lives. We like to think that the conscious mind is the one doing all the work, but it actually does very little. The conscious mind deals with making bigger, more important decisions. The subconscious mind is a bit like our autopilot system. Things that we've learned, habits and patterns, are all located in the subconscious. Most of our daily decisions are actually handled here.

Things that happened to us in childhood or traumas that have happened in our lives get firmly planted in our subconscious and it changes how we approach the outside world. It never fails to surprise me how many things people suffer with in adulthood actually stem from a childhood trauma. For example, take people who suffer with being overweight. I'm shocked -- even now -- how many of those cases are about something that was said or done to them as children. The subconscious mind is quite brilliant and will come up with really interesting solutions to problems.

Working directly with the subconscious mind means that we can work on doing some solid reprogramming work. Just like how when a computer program has a glitch, programmers can figure out ways to reprogram it, we can identify the root problems of things in hypnotherapy and then work to create new software, new programming that is much healthier for you.

#3: We act as your cheerleader

An RTT session is made up of several different elements that when done in order help our clients get the change they want to see. The final segment is the reprogramming, as I mentioned above. During the reprogramming, we use the principles of suggestibility to help install healthy new concepts into your subconscious mind. In effect, we are acting as your personal cheerleader. This is also the portion of your session that we record and send to you after your appointment.

The reprogramming is incredible powerful. By the time we get to the reprogramming, we have worked on removing outdated and unneeded blocks from your subconscious mind. We have reframed how you think about different things. The reprogramming is all about getting wonderful new patterns of thought into your mind and getting them to stick.

This is a big reason why we encourage our clients to listen to their recording at least 21 times. By 21 times, you have developed a habit of listening to your recording. The more you listen to your recording, the better, because it helps reaffirm and reinstall the new programming.

Hypnotherapy is so interesting in how effective and efficiently it works. For people who have spend years and years in traditional talk therapy, it seems magical that hypnosis can work so quickly. Consider booking your free 15 minute Discovery Call with D.J. and se can see if hypnotherapy is the right outlet for your needs.

Note: RTT is not a replacement to talk therapy, but is a supplement. If you require mental health care, please contact a mental health professional. If you are considering sucide, please contact the national suicide prevention line at 800-273-8255.
